Interact Intranet are celebrating with two of their customers who are finalists in the Ragan Communication Awards. Winning internationally recognised awards like the Ragan Awards is a way for leading intranet managers to get the recognition they deserve publicly and from their employers, while internal users come to appreciate and value their intranets even more than they did previously.

Dollar Finance have been our hot tip for this year as an emerging name in the awards scene. Featuring in the ‘Best Social Intranet’ award finalists is deserved recognition of their adoption of social tools as the way of working in their business. Dollar’s intranet ‘Doris’ (Dollar Online Resource Information System) is critical to their business operations, it is their sole method for speaking to and listening to a dispersed workforce in 650 shops across the UK.

They use ‘Doris’ to enable employees to have input on the business decisions that affect them, for example deciding store opening times, whether to open on Sundays or whether to introduce uniforms, whilst their intranet homepage is a toolkit to their store staff contributing the customer service they offer. When regulation changes in their industry, it is communicated and supported using DORIS.

“We entered as we are extremely proud of what we have created and maintained and if we can win this award and get recognition for all our work that is an amazing accomplishment. Our staff and senior management team will respect our Intranet even more and we are up against some household names!

The blogging tools and discussion forum widgets that Interact provides have helped us no end in opening up all lines of communication from the MD and Senior Management teams to our front line staff. They truly feel that their voice counts and opinions matter.”

Paula Kenyon, Intranet Manager, Dollar Finance

Launched in July 2012, Wheatley Group’s ‘Holmes’, has been one of the most recognised intranets on the awards scene. Recently they won Highly Commended for ‘Best Use of an Intranet’ at the CIPR Inside awards and last year ‘Holmes’ won the Ragan award which they have also been shortlisted for this year ‘Best Value to Employees’, beating the likes of Disney, Domino’s Pizza and Emirates. We hope they can do the same again this year.

‘Holmes’ is an outstanding intranet, it is the central place to get work done within the Wheatley Group,  like common business procedures made simple, as well as tackling housing problems with forums heavily used to encourage employees to openly discuss changes in policies and procedures.

The recent changes in Welfare Reform have sparked group collaboration, sharing customer experiences and case studies to help others address similar situations and keep up to date.

“We are so happy to be shortlisted for the Ragan awards again; my beautiful intranet is built on Interact Intranet software which provides me with all the tools I need to create our award winning intranet

Holmes has been so successful that Wheatley Group’s leaders make Holmes the home for all new initiatives.”

Wendy Jordan, Intranet Manager, Wheatley Group
